Live Web Site Attack Demos, Participation in Conference Programme Sessions Highlight Companys Security Know-how
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., February 19, 2013 Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading cloud platform for helping enterprises provide secure, high-performing user experiences on any device, anywhere, is showcasing its distinctive web security solutions and expertise at RSA Conference 2013, which will be held in San Franciscos Moscone Centre from February 25 - March 1, 2013. Booth demonstrations (Booth 1630) of the newest version of Kona Site Defender, as well as keynote sessions and panel discussions from Akamais security thought leaders are highlights of the companys presence at the event.
Live Demonstrations of Kona Site Defender
Throughout the event, Akamai will host live demonstrations showcasing how the latest version of Kona Site Defender can protect web sites and applications from a variety of attack vectors, including SQL injection, cross site scripting, and distributed denial of service (DDoS). Akamai will host two identical web sites on public cloud infrastructure, one of which is protected by Kona Site Defender. Real-time analytics provided by Kona Site Defenders Advanced Security Monitor will show the result of live attacks launched from the Akamai booth on both the protected and unprotected sites.
During the course of the event, Akamai security experts will be on hand to discuss the ways in which web attacks have continued to transform over the past 12 months and the challenges associated with defending against an ever-evolving attack landscape.
Book Signings with Bruce Schneier
Renowned security technologist and author, Bruce Schneier, will be on hand in the Akamai booth to sign copies of his 2012 book, Liars and Outliers: Enabling the Trust Society Needs to Thrive, which investigates how trust works - both in business and society as a whole - how it is often betrayed, and the degree to which technology intersects with this complex issue. Mr. Schneier will be available for exclusive book signings in Akamais booth at the following scheduled times:

RSA Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to hear members of Akamais security team speak about many of the key issues faced daily by security professionals.

Do You Know Your Enemy Enemies?: WHO & WHY do matter: On Monday, February 25 at 3:30 p.m. PT, Akamais Director of Security Intelligence, Josh Corman, will facilitate the Innovators Showcase Whiteboard session that will help attendees better understand the characteristics of modern adversaries and their implications to the industrys risk management priorities.
Making Rugged DevOps and Infosec Work: On Tuesday, February 26 at 3:50 p.m. PT, Akamais Director of Security Intelligence, Josh Corman, and his fellow panelists will debate how information security can integrate into the DevOps movement.
Offensive Security: Hope or Hype?: On Wednesday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. PT, Akamais Director of Security Intelligence, Josh Corman, will moderate a panel on new thinking around Active Defence, or what some would Replacement Offensive Activities. Panelists will explore the pros and cons of enacting an offensive security position in defending a companys networks.
Mayans, Mayhem and Malware: On Thursday, February 28 at 8:00 a.m. PT, Akamais Director of Security Intelligence, Josh Corman, will join fellow panelists to discuss the persistent gaps and perennial conditions confronting organizations today, notably in areas of compliance and governance related to threat mitigation, education and awareness.
Achievement Unlocked: Designing a Compelling Security Awareness Programme: On Thursday, February 28 at 10:40 a.m. PT, Akamais Chief Security Officer, Andy Ellis, will speak on how to design a comprehensive, but not overbearing, security awareness programme for employees.
Mind over Matter: Managing Risk with Psychology instead of Brute Force: On Thursday, February 28 at 4:05 p.m. PT, Akamais Chief Security Officer, Andy Ellis, will deliver a keynote presentation about how research into the psychology of risk has informed his approach to information security and enabled him to manage the security of Akamais vast cloud platform with a very lean team.
Living Below the Security Poverty Line: Coping Mechanisms: On Friday, March 1 at 9:00 a.m. PT, Akamais Chief Security Officer, Andy Ellis, will discuss how organizations with limited resources to put toward security can cope with issues and still drive forward systemic change in their security programs.
Control Quotient: Adaptive Strategies for Gracefully Losing Control: On Friday, March 1 at 9:00 a.m. PT, Akamais Director of Security Intelligence, Josh Corman, will speak on how forces such as cloud, virtualization, mobility and consumerization have greatly changed how IT assets are owned and operated, and how infosec teams can gracefully adjust to this changing level of security asset control.
