KCETLink Presents Compelling Documentaries on Global Conflicts and Compromise

Burbank, Calif. -Feb. 2, 2015 - KCETLink, the national independent public broadcast and digital network, presents a global perspective on overcoming adversity with two documentaries on conflict and compromise around the world.

THE CREATORS: SOUTH AFRICA THROUGH THE EYES OF ITS ARTISTS Wed, Feb. 11, 9 p.m. PT on KCET (Southern California)

This documentary shows the lives of six artists sculpting South Africas future from the fragments of a tumultuous past. Born in different areas of the formerly-segregated country, the artists separately recraft history -- and the impacts of apartheid -- in their own artistic languages. This film was shot and edited entirely by South Africans, the majority of whom were trained while on the job and now work professionally in South Africas burgeoning film industry. Additionally, the films airdate coincides with the 25th anniversary of Nelson Mandelas release from prison.

BEYOND RIGHT AND WRONG: STORIES OF JUSTICE AND FORGIVENESS

This documentary looks at areas of conflict around the world and what it takes to forgive, and what it takes to ask for forgiveness under difficult circumstances. The film showcases personal interviews of aggressors and victims from Northern Ireland, Rwanda, Israel, and Palestine and examines anger, understanding, remorse, tolerance, and sometimes clemency. The survivors stories are haunting and inspiring, and the film is a meditation on justice and its role in national and personal healing.
