A new level of terror begins Release the Hounds returns to ITV2

Release the Hounds, the unique horror gameshow from Sony Pictures Television's UK joint venture, Gogglebox Entertainment is unleashed for a new series this Autumn on ITV2.

The scream out loud horror experience has upped the ante for its new series with gruesome and horrifying tests that aim to push contestants to the very edge.

Filmed in a remote forest from dusk through to the dead of night, the show will once again be hosted by Reggie Yates.

Reggie Yates said I have absolutely loved filming this series, I'm such a big fan of the horror genre. Some of the contestants we had taking part this series were just brilliant and their reactions are priceless, although it must be said I am far happier being behind the monitor, being their eyes and ears than I ever would be running around a dark forest not to mention going up against the dogs! .

The show sees three unsuspecting contestants enter a huge forest at dusk, in a quest to unlock chests full of prize money. The not so fearless friends will have all responded to an advert to win money but little do they know, in order to win big, they must face some of the scariest challenges ever endured on TV.

Host Reggie Yates is their communication from outside the forest and he'll follow the contestants' progress throughout their fright night ordeal.

To locate the keys, the friends must all take part in a variety of horror themed mental and physical tests that will truly aim to push them to the limit. But the ultimate challenge for them is to out-run a pack of dogs, trained to guard the cash. If they manage to escape the hounds, the money belongs to them. If they don't .

The new series will include terrifying challenges such as a phone booth that floods once you're locked inside, a giant jack in the box with a twist, a clown with a sinister balloon obsession and an ice-cream van that dispenses much more than lolly-pops.

Kate Maddigan, ITV's Commissioning Editor for Entertainment said Release The Hounds has been such an exciting but terrifying show to be a part of. Even reading the ideas on paper has given me goosebumps so how the contestants must feel in the forest is beyond me. The team have managed to blend scaring the wits out the audience but somehow give them some laughs along the way so I cant wait for ITV2 viewers to see it.

Release the Hounds was commissioned by Kate Maddigan, ITV's Commissioning Editor for Entertainment and ordered for ITV2 by Angela Jain, ITV's Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions. The Executive Producers are Gogglebox founders Adam Wood and Mat Steiner.
