The Sims 4 team made a pretty big announcement recently. They revealed that within the next six months, a new expansion pack, new stuff pack and a new game pack will be released.
At the time, they didn't reveal anything more than that. And then, towards the end of May, for a limited time, The Sims 4 base game was free to download.
The Sims 4 made free for downloadYep, free. Those who had forked out a pretty penny for the game and its expansion packs were pretty mad that the base game of Sims 4 was made completely free. But don't hate the player, hate the game, right?
None of this answered the most pressing question Simmers had, though. When is new expansion dropping and what will it be?
So, as with all questions left unanswered, the speculation started to grow. And now we're here. The fact that Sims was free for a time meant everyone believed that it was a masterstroke to get potential new Simmers hooked before new expansion packs dropped.
When the new Sims 4 expansion pack will be releasedThe date is not confirmed yet, but considering how long its been since anything new dropped, many believe that the new Sims expansion is likely to be released in June 2019. With EA Play around the corner (read on for more about that), that looks like a pretty reasonable expectation.
Sims 4 Expansion: University, Tropical Island or FarmingBut what will it be? In the lead up to EA Play, reports surfaced of what many believed to be leaks of the new expansion. Some websites started to list codes for a Sims 4 Island-type expansion, but EA and Maxis said absolutely nothing about this- that's neither confirmed nor denied the rumours in journalist-speak.
Others believe University or Farming could be on the cards. The former would follow a similar pattern to the previous sequence of expansion packs while the latter will bring something entirely different.
Keep in mind that expansion packs, game packs and stuff packs are all coming this year - which means that it's entirely possible that Sims fans could get all of the above and more.
So anything from Witches or Magic (something we've not had in The Sims 4) or something completely new and different is all on the table.
The Sims 4 announcements coming at EA PlayMore? Yep. Well, like we said, we're all up in this speculation grill right now.
EA Play is a pretty big deal in the gaming community. It's happening on 8 June 2019. What has been confirmed is that there will be a big Sims 4 reveal at the event. One of the Sim Gurus shared this to Twitter.
