Rose Troche Shakes up SCREEN FOREVER

Screen Producers Australia is proud to announce that multi-platform, internationally renowned director, producer and screenwriter Rose Troche (The L Word, Go Fish, Concussion) will be sharing her experiences as a boundary breaking content maker at SCREEN FOREVER 2017.

Initiated by Create NSW, the iconoclastic career of Rose Troche across film, TV and VR will be featured in a special In Conversation' session at SCREEN FOREVER, held across the 14-16th November 2017 at the Crown Conference Centre in Melbourne.

Troche's directorial feature debut, Go Fish, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 1994 and became a cult classic, she also produced last year's festival favourite Concussion. Across over a decade in television, Troche's career highlights include working as co-executive producer, writer and director of the ground breaking Showtime series The L Word and directing episodes of Six Feet Under, Ugly Betty and Law & Order. In her eclectic film projects, she has also directed The Safety of Objects and Bedrooms and Hallways.

Most recently Troche has turned her passion for unsettling the status quo to the narrative story telling opportunities of VR. Her new pioneering VR works include Perspective Chapter 2: The Misdemeanor and If Not Love, which featured as part of the Sundance New Frontier program and exemplifies the new kind of storytelling that is only possible in VR.

I am honoured to be engaging with the Australian screen industry as part of the Screen Forever conference and supported by Create NSW. Australia is embracing the unique storytelling opportunities of VR across a swathe of genres including social activism, allowing suppressed voices an avenue for expression, Troche said.

Troche will be discussing the power of VR as an immersive storytelling technique in the Create NSW supported panel, VR and Diversity at SCREEN FOREVER 2017.
