CABLE'S BEST AND BRIGHTEST IP EXPERTS SOUGHT AS SCTE IP CHALLENGE RETURNS FOR THIRD YEAR

MAY 29, 2013 (Exton, PA) What type of OSPF router would connect an area that is not using OSPF? What kind of message is used to request the physical address of a host whose IPv6 address is known? Cable telecommunications professionals' knowledge of those and other Internet Protocol (IP) issues will be put to the test once again when the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) hosts its third annual SCTE IP Challenge.

Sponsored by Cisco Systems, the event begins with online practice the week of June 2, followed by online qualifying rounds from June 23-29 and again from July 7-13. The eight SCTE members who finish highest in the qualifying rounds will be eligible to move on to the live semifinals and finals at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2013 in October, where they will compete against each other and against the 2012 SCTE IP Challenge winner, Bradford Chatterjee, network engineer for Cable ONE.

The semifinals and finals of the SCTE IP Challenge will combine a fast-paced, "Jeopardy"-style question format; the finals also will include router and CMTS configuration and hands-on activities. Both the semifinals and finals will take place before a live audience at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Atlanta from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, Oct. 21. "The SCTE IP Challenge is designed to highlight the requirements for engineering and operations professionals, and to recognize those who already have mastered IP technologies."

"The IP Challenge is a salient example of how we're working with Cisco to drive new levels of IP expertise that can enable career growth for cable telecommunications professionals and operational benefits for the industry."

The eight 2013 semifinalists will receive complimentary registrations to SCTE Cable-Tec Expo , scheduled for Monday through Thursday, Oct. 21-24 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The IP Challenge winner will receive one full-conference pass to Cisco Live and one full-conference pass to SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014, at which he or she will defend the IP Challenge title. All participants in the qualifying rounds will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win one of five CCENT Part 1 Training Packages (includes CCNA1 Cisco Academy e-course, practice exams and textbook).
