Viewers Love the Crazy World of Animal Kingdom

The freshman season of TNT's Animal Kingdom comes to a close Tuesday, but the crime drama, developed by Jonathan Lisco, has already been renewed for a second season. Canvs, the language analytics company, took a look at the Emotional Reactions (ERs) viewers expressed on Twitter (analyzing all tweets about the show captured by Nielsen) throughout the season.

In total, there have been 12,784 ERs across nine episodes, with an average of 1,420 ERs per airing. Animal Kingdom has been a popular show for TNT on social media this summer, taking second place for the network's most emotionally reacted-to series since June 1.

The show is good at surprising and engaging viewers: 15.8% of all ERs expressed during the season fell into the crazy category, followed by good at 15.6%, dislike at 13% (usually in regard to intentionally unlikeable characters) and excited at 11.4%. Of course, love was the overall dominating emotion, appearing in 33.1% of Emotional Reactions.

Topping the list of emotionally reacted-to shows on TNT is Rizzoli & Isles, the crime drama featuring two strong female leads now in its seventh and final season. The show has received 14,914 ERs since June 1, with viewers most often expressing love (40.7%), good (16.1%) and excited (10.4%). Fans have been tweeting their sadness at this being the last season:

The Last Ship takes third place for TNT shows this summer, with 11,521 ERs across eight episodes. So far this season, which is the show's third, Wolf and Chandler are the two most emotionally reacted-to characters, with Wolf being mentioned in 3.5% of ERs and Chandler in 3.4%.
