Servers and Connected Live tools also added to new HD live production truck

Live production facilities provider Mobile TV Group, has integrated new EVS live production technology - including servers, effects telestration and connected media tools - into two of its live production trucks in the run up to the 2017 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Mobile TV Group's 39 FLEX 4K mobile unit, which will be on display at the Las Vegas Convention Center during NAB, has already been used for covering significant events in UHD-4K across the United States. It will now benefit from the flexibility of three newly installed XT4K live production servers.

This integration means that Mobile TV Group is now not only able to ingest 4K feeds, but also a 10-bit codec that enables support for productions using High Dynamic Range (HDR) as well as the two sample interleave format for QUAD-SDI. And in case it becomes necessary, the server has expanded support for 12G-SDI and native IP connectivity. Moreover, Mobile TV Group can now easily switch from a total of 12 UHD-4K channels to over 30 Full-HD 1080p channels whenever needed.

The 4K programming that our 39 Flex truck produces is of the highest quality. As higher resolutions continue to become the standard, adding HDR functionality to the mobile unit with EVS servers means our clients can see even better, richer images in their live productions, said Philip Garvin, president and founder of Mobile TV Group.

39 FLEX was most recently deployed to Carmel-by-the-Sea in California for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. There were three LSM operators for the 4K production, all running 2in 2out in XAVC-Intra class 300 codec at 600 Mbps. The operators used EVS' XNet network to transfer clips and exchange content between the three servers. Operators could work fast and reliably, just as if they were working on an HD production and no extra training or information was needed.

Mobile TV Group's brand new 41HDX mobile production facility will also feature EVS live production servers as well as a number of other tools. The integration of three XT3 servers in its ChannelMAX configuration means Mobile TV Group's productions will benefit from more than 12 channels of configurable I/O in each server with Dual-LSM functionality allowing two operators to use a single server at once.

Also installed into 41HDX are EVS' Epsio FX, XFile3 and a Connected Agent. Epsio FX lets operators quickly add visual effects to replays including data visualizations needing separate graphics systems. Mobile TV Group will then benefit from a simple way to backup and restore live content when operating in the field while the Connected Agent lets users instantly deliver media to multiple locations.

When working with clients that have EVS' Xplore installed in a production base, 41HDX gives them immediate access to live multi-camera feeds and content stored on EVS servers inside the mobile unit. It allows production teams to work remotely with content, regardless of location. This is a great example of EVS' Connected Live ecosystem, illustrating the technical infrastructure that allows multiple stakeholders to instantly access, exchange, manage and deliver live media, wherever they are.

The EVS equipment inside 41HDX means we can enable the fast movement and management of any live media between multiple sites, added Garvin. Our trucks are quickly becoming more connected, bringing the production crews closer together, and using these EVS tools means we can enable them to work more collaboratively.

Mobile TV Group's 39 Flex truck will be on display at the 2017 NAB Show in the mobile truck area on booth OE601 between April 24-27 in Las Vegas.
