Vizrt's advanced graphics, video, and analysis tools are behind the coverage of the world's largest sport event; the World Cup.
The International Broadcast Center (IBC) will be the base for Vizrt operations.
The year's World Cup in Brazil promises to be one of the most watched television events in history with billions of football fans tuning in to cheer on their favorite teams. Vizrt will be there for every match providing broadcasters tools to enhance their World Cup coverage. Vizrt's production of the games leverages the full capabilities of Viz Libero, Viz Arena, Viz Trio, Viz Virtual Studio, Viz World, Viz One, and Viz Engine to create an experience viewers will not forget.
Vizrt staff from Europe, Asia, and the Americas will be assisting broadcasters in Rio de Janeiro. The International Broadcast Center will host studio space for every broadcaster and this will be the base for Vizrt operations. Vizrt will be presenting blogs, photos and videos of the event as it progresses to give a behind the scenes look at the largest sport event in the world.
Interactive analysis
Vizrt began preparing broadcasters for the World Cup in 2013 with the creation of the World Cup interactive studio solution. This package covers all aspects of a studio show for the tournament. Using interactive elements via touchscreen or iPad, broadcasters will guide viewers through the tournament with pre-game statistics and lineups, in-game analysis and post-game discussions. The solution integrates with social media content, external statistics data and weather data to give viewers the full scope of every match. The interactive solution can be combined together with Viz Libero, the leading 3d analysis tool for sports.
Viz Libero powering more than 30 leading broadcastersThe Viz Libero World Cup version will be used to show sophisticated game analysis to a worldwide audience and for more than 30 leading broadcaster's World Cup-related programs.
The centerpiece of Viz Libero's World Cup version is a plugin interface to integrate with data providers such as Deltatre, STATS or Opta. Powered by Deltatre's Magma Pro, Viz Libero integrates the official World Cup live player tracking and statistical data in real-time, making clip processing faster and analysis more insightful. The system also applies tied-to-pitch graphics such as heat maps, or pointers to tag the players on the field.
Facebook interaction
The program provides broadcasters analytics such as discussion levels and demographic information.
To expand the social media capabilities of broadcasters, Vizrt has partnered with Facebook to offer social media analytics data including discussion volume and demographics. Through these partnerships, Vizrt has created a ready-to-use graphics package available for free to all Vizrt Social TV customers that includes full screen and lower-third graphics to help them leverage the content. This solution for broadcasters offers a unique opportunity to engage viewers in the conversation.
Live graphics from Viz TrioProduction during the tournament will use live graphics from Viz Trio, Vizrt's real-time 3D character generator (CG). Scoreboards, statistics, lineups and lower thirds are triggered live to air by Viz Trio operators in control rooms and OB vans. Using live data, content is automatically added to Viz Trio pages creating a simple workflow for live production.
Virtual graphics with Viz Virtual Studio
Virtual content will be used in the studio for virtual sets and augmented graphics as well as in the arena.
At the World Cup virtual content will be used in the studio for virtual sets and augmented graphics as well as in the arena for live immersive graphics. Viz Virtual Studio allows broadcasters to add and control virtual graphics during live broadcasts. When combined with Viz Trio and Viz Pilot, the virtual sets become templates allowing the broadcasters to change content and add live data.
Digital asset management with Viz OneViz One, Vizrt's media asset management (MAM) system, will be used by broadcasters during the tournament to store and manage media content. Viz One allows journalists and editors to access video content through a web browser from any workstation, making edits and finding video content quick and easy.
Innovative viewer engagement
Several broadcasters have announced their plans for World Cup coverage, each with a focus on better informing their audience about the action on the pitch. Televisa Deportes, a division of Mexico's highly rated television network Televisa, has created an interactive touch table that leverages Vizrt technology to bring viewers a new way of seeing sports analysis. Austria's ORF ( sterreichischer Rundfunk) employs a team of experts who comb the football content to find the best scenes to analyze in Viz Libero. TV 4 Sweden plans to use the latest version of Viz One to store game footage that can then be quickly indexed, edited, and used for post game analysis. Sky Sport Italia will use Viz Libero and Virtual Presenter to place their presenters on the football pitch with the players to analyze key plays.
These broadcasters plus Globosat, Medcom, MTVA, TV 2 Norway, NRK, and hundreds more globally will be using Vizrt to make this year's World Cup a memorable event for their viewers.
Covering worldwide sports
Recently Vizrt provided solutions to drive a massive 15,224 square feet (1414 square meters) screen for the Kentucky Derby. An equally massive screen was debuted at the Texas Motor Speedway and was recognized by Guinness World records as the largest high-definition television LED screen in the world.
Fox Sports in the United States used a combination of live in-game graphics, interactive graphics and immersive graphics in their coverage of both the Super Bowl and Daytona 500.
