Bulls Wind Up Regular Season, Whats Great About Minor League Baseball

The Durham Bulls are finishing their 2013 season on the road, finishing up a stretch at the Gwinnett Braves today, Friday, August 29, 3013, and then traveling to Norfolk for a final four games against the Tides. The Bulls have clinched the International League's South Division title and look forward to the play-off series which begins at home on Wednesday, Sept 3rd. But before moving on they have a great big Thank You for their fans.

With the home portion of the 2013 regular season in the books, the Durham Bulls organization would like to thank YOU, our incredible fans, for your support this year, posted the Bulls. Its been a magical ride, but we arent done yet. Well see you in the PLAYOFFS.

WRALSportsFan.com Senior Sports Editor Aaron Schoonmaker reports on the Bulls as part of his job covering sports, but he also takes in a few games for fun, with his wife. He talked about his date nights at the ballpark with Capcom.

The best thing about minor league baseball is that it's not all about the game in front of you and you don't have to be a baseball fan to have a good time at the park or else my wife would never go. Sitting in the sun in centerfield during day games while enjoying a few beverages is never a bad time. Watching the kids participate in the between-inning games are generally more entertaining than the game itself. Then of course there are the game promotions Bark in the Park, fireworks, Star Wars, etc., etc. It's the things that most MLB teams cannot do on a regular basis.

"If you are a baseball fan, watching and following the Triple-A level is a unique thing. Some players are on their way up, some are on their way down, some are minor league lifers and some are just prolonging their careers. It's an incredible blend. Plus, every year there a few feature games where a top MLB star is rehabbing or, in the case of this season, there is a movie anniversary and a jersey retirement ceremony."
