HP ArcSight Delivers Enhanced Correlation and Threat DetectionHP ArcSight ESM analyzes billions of security events per day, addressing Big Data challenges by accelerating identification and prioritization of threatsHP Discover Barcelona, Dec. 2, 2014 HP today introduced a new version of its market-leading security information and event management (SIEM) solution, HP ArcSight ESM. Leveraging enhanced performance capabilities, the new release provides customers with the ability to analyze billions of events per day and greatly accelerate the time it takes to identify and prioritize security threats.
IT security professionals are challenged with identifying advanced persistent threats in a growing pool of data that's multiplying by the second. With the frequency and complexity of attacks on the rise as well, the ability to analyze the volume of security events and pinpoint the real threats becomes increasingly difficult. The new version of HP ArcSight ESM addresses these Big Data challenges by delivering supercharged analysis for threat detection, increasing online storage capacity to 600 terabytes and search speeds by 1000 times that of the previous release.1
Our customers need a simple way to take big data and make it small data, to quickly identify threats, and to take intelligent action that will help protect their organization from potential disaster, said Mike Armistead, vice president and general manager, ArcSight, Enterprise Security Products, HP. HP ArcSight ESM enables organizations to quickly and accurately identify and triage these threats, helping to mitigate risk in real time and reduce the overall impact of an attack.
According to a recent study conducted by the Ponemon Institute (@PonemonPrivacy), those organizations using security intelligence technologies to detect and contain cyber attacks experience significant reductions in the annualized cost of cyber crime. For those having deployed a SIEM solution, the average cost savings was $5.3 million per year.2
Identifying anomalous behavior patterns in our data is critical to protecting ourselves from advanced threats, said Vitaly Ponomarev, Lead Security Engineer, OJSC Promsvyazbank. The performance enhancements made in HP ArcSight ESM 6.8c greatly improve our ability to identify unknown threats hiding within our security events and quickly use this information to protect ourselves against advanced attacks.
HP ArcSight ESM 6.8c key enhancements include:
Supercharged analysis that enables analysts to detect and investigate attackers more quickly and efficiently than previous versions
Improved storage capacity supports clustered big data security analytics up to 600TB of online data1
Increased search speeds that are 1000 times faster than the previous release.1
Analytics from HP's big data platform, #HPHAVEn, can be leveraged to expand on existing real-time correlation and threat detection.
