Mats Granyrd, Mobile Industry Leader and Sustainability Champion, Joins The B Team

New York: The B Team announced today that Mats Granyrd, Director General of the GSMA and a strong proponent of sustainability who spearheaded efforts to mobilize the mobile industry's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), will join co-founders Richard Branson, Jochen Zeitz, and 22 other leaders from business and civil society in their collective effort to demonstrate that a more sustainable path is better for both business, the planet and society.

Granyrd leads the GSMA in supporting its global membership through a range of industry programmes, advocacy initiatives and events. He is currently spearheading initiatives to amplify and accelerate the mobile industry's impact on all 17 of the SDGs, across both developed and developing markets.

Mats' progressive leadership on the SDGs in the mobile communications industry makes him a powerful addition to The B Team, said Jochen Zeitz, The B Team Co-Founder and Executive Chair. There are more than 5 billion mobile subscribers in the world making this an industry that can have formidable influence and impact in our efforts. From helping deliver a world with universal financial access by 2020, to responding to acute humanitarian crises, Mats and GSMA are helping to create a more resilient, equitable world.

For the past three years, The B Team has worked in partnership with businesses, governments, thought leaders and civil society advocates to identify solutions and drive bold action to transform the global economy, for the benefit of people and the planet, commented Granryd.
