NAB 2026: Blackmagic Design Announces ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP Switchers

Blackmagic Design has announced the ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP and ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP Plus, two SMPTE 2110-native live production switchers. The ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP will be available in June from US$7,995. The Plus model will be available in July from US$14,295. Both will be demonstrated at NAB Show 2026 (Booth N2502).

ATEM Constellation switchers are powerful and offer advanced features, but we have customers who are doing SMPTE-2110 workflows, and need a native 2110 IP switcher rather than SDI, says Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. Rather than just adding a lot of 10G Ethernet connections, we realized we needed a whole new design. Not only does front to back cooling mean they are quiet, but using bi-directional 100G Ethernet means each port can handle 8 video inputs and outputs, so 4 cables replaces 60 separate BNC cables on an SDI switcher, it's amazing! We can't wait to see this switcher in action at large live broadcasts.

Design and Connectivity

Both models feature front-to-back cooling with four fans, full redundancy on all connections with SMPTE 2022-7 on all video ports, redundant PTP clock connections, 2x10G Ethernet control ports, and redundant AC power supplies. A built-in LCD displays status information and settings menus. A front panel headphone connection and built-in speaker support local program monitoring.

ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP

32 standards-converted SMPTE 2022-7 inputs using 4 sets of dual redundant 100G Ethernet connections, 24 SMPTE 2110 outputs, 16 ATEM Advanced Keys, 4 multi-views, and 2 SuperSource for a total of 12 DVEs.

ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP Plus

64 standards-converted SMPTE 2022-7 inputs using 8 sets of dual redundant 100G Ethernet connections, 48 SMPTE 2022-7 outputs, 16 ATEM Advanced Keys, 4 multi-views, and 2 SuperSource for a total of 12 DVEs.

Standards Conversion

Each input video channel has a dedicated standards converter, automatically converting incoming sources to the switcher's operating standard. The switcher supports 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 2160p up to 60p.

Audio

Fairlight Live software handles audio routing to and from ATEM Constellation IP via USB, supporting stereo, surround, and immersive audio with multiple talkback busses. Built-in talkback uses audio channels 15 and 16 for communication with Blackmagic Design cameras.

ATEM Monitoring Panel

The optional ATEM Monitoring Panel provides front panel controls in a rack-mount form factor with a dedicated Ethernet control port, redundant 10G Ethernet SMPTE 2022-7 to 12G-SDI and HDMI conversion, and a 5-pin talkback interface.
