RT jr announces world premier of animated series Nelly and Nora

21 January 2015: RT jr will air the world premier of a new animation series Nelly and Nora on February 2nd at 9:30am and this delightful animated pre-school series is a Geronimo production.

The series follows the stories of two young sisters, Nelly and Nora, who spend their family holidays and weekends in a mobile home camping park by the sea.

The voice talent for the series includes two young girls Clodagh Kane and Aoibhinn Mc Auley who play Nelly and Nora', veteran Ardal O'Hanlon who plays the Dad, Linda Teehan who portrays the Mum and Paul Tylak is Farmer Joe.

Pauline Macnamara Executive Producer Animation & Commissioning, RT Young Peoples Programmes said: Nelly and Nora is a fantastic opportunity to indulge the national fascination with the weather for the RT jr audience! Gerard, Emma, Jamie and the team at Geronimo have created a truly beautiful and charming series that just sings on screen. Nelly and Nora is bursting with personality and fun and will delight our preschool audience and their parents alike as it dips us into the typical Irish family holiday scenario with style.

Speaking on his idea for the show, creator Gerard O Rourke said: This series was inspired by a regular family holiday in Wicklow and is based on our obsession as a nation with the weather. Gerard noticed that his own two daughters were always playing outside their holiday home, regardless of the weather. While on the other hand, adults tend to allow the weather dictate their every movement".

This new animation series is developed by Emma Hogan and directed by Jamie Teehan, both new emerging talents in these roles. The series broadcast partners are RT jr (RT ) and CBeebies (BBC) and it is supported by Irish Film Board, BAI and S481 Irish Government. The characters Nelly and Nora will feature on an An Post stamp in March and the first hardback book from the series will be published early next year as part of an extensive publishing deal. The series will also see 40 of the 52 episodes broadcast in Irish, kicking off Seachtain Na Gaeilge on RT jr in March.
