South African funnyman Trevor Noah has been nominated for a Golden Globe award.

The 81st Golden Globe Awards will take place on 7 January 2024.

Noah was nominated in a new' award category named Best performance in stand-up comedy on television'.

Noah, 39, the former host of The Daily Show, received his nomination for his performance on Where Was I.

The Netflix documentary comedy is the Johannesburg-born comedian's fourth original comedy special on Netflix and will be available to stream from Tuesday, 19 December.

In addition to I Wish You Would, Son of Patricia, and Afraid of the Dark, Noah's Golden Globe-nominated Where Was I details the quirky and hilarious experiences from his world travels while on his Off the Record global stand-up tour.

Noah faces stiff opposition for the award from fellow nominees Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman and Wanda Sykes.

Meanwhile, Barbie leads the proceedings with nine nominations, followed closely by Oppenheimer with eight meaning the summer's Barbenheimer phenomenon will be all over the film awards circuit.
