
The Durban FilmMart and the Hotdocs Blue Ice Group Fund invite documentary professionals attending the Durban FilmMart to join us for a Documentary Speed Meeting event. Presenting a perfect (and fast) way to get to know filmmakers and producers from across the continent, the session kicks off with an information session on the Hot Docs Blue Ice Group Documentary Fund, and an introduction to the five recipient HDBIGF 2014 Fellows and Elizabeth Radshaw, Director of Industry Programmes - Hotdocs.
Come meet the HDBIG Fellows, get more information about the grant and other programme at Hotdocs and more importantly connect with documentary professionals from across the continent.

The Hot Docs Blue Ice Group Documentary Fund will provide financial support, professional development and industry mentorship to independent documentary filmmakers based in African countries.

The film shares the memories of Said, a nomad who left his community decades ago to settle in industrial Casablanca, supplemented by stories of the daily lives of the last nomad families trying to survive the Atlas Mountains.

The 1994 nation-wide genocide of Tutsis in Rwanda claimed an estimated one million lives, but the Hutu residents of Giti, a small Rwandan village, stood against all odds and refused the government's call to participate in the slaughter of their Tutsi friends, family and neighbours.
THE REVOLUTION WON'T BE TELEVISED

Senegal Thiat and Kilifeu, two Senegalese activists and hip-hop singers, experienced a year of revolution in 2012. Their story highlights the emerging African urban youth movement, and how youth involved in hip-hop culture helped to radically transform the Senegalese civil society. The revolution won't be televised, but it will be documented.

EGYPT'S MODERN PHARAOHS is an autopsy of Egypt's contemporary history from 1952 to 2011, including its role on the international stage. Political, military and religious key characters, as well as personalities from civil society, will provide an in-depth understanding of how revolution in Egypt was inevitable.
