After weeks of fierce competition, it's time to meet the remaining Idols SA Top 9 finalists of Season 18 of the series. The reality show confirmed its surviving contestants on Sunday 18 September 2022 after the last voting closed.

Lerato leaves Idols SA' Idols SA contestant Lerato is the latest contestant to be eliminated from the competition because she did not get enough votes to make it to the next round.

However, this means that Noxolo, Kabelo, Mpilwenhle, Ceejay, Tesmin-Robyn, Ty-Loner, Nozi, Thapelo and Zee are still in the running for the coveted winning title. The women of the show have been dominating this crucial stage of the competition.

South African music history celebrated The current round of voting kicked off with performances aired on Sunday 18 September on Mzansi Magic. Idols SA Top 9 contestants performed songs that celebrated the history of South African music.

Contestant Nozi wowed the live audience with her rendition of Thandiswa Mazwai's Nizalwa Ngobani. However, fans expressed mixed reactions to the performance on social media. Although some people did not like the new instrumental and vocal arrangement of the song, others praised Nozi's powerful voice as showcased in the performance.

Noxolo gave a soulful performance of Letha Mbuli's Nomalanga, which had the audience dancing and singing along. The judges were visibly impressed by her performance. Fans were left entranced by the smooth vocals of Kabelo during his performance of Ringo Madlingozi's Ekuseni.

This season welcomed new judges, JR Bogape and Thembi Seete, as well as the seasoned Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo. Long-time Idols SA judges Unathi Nkayi and Randall Williams announced that they have bowed out of the show for good during January this year. Their contracts were not renewed, according to Idolssa.net.
