R&S BTC broadcast test center features new compliance tests

Munich | 09/22/2015 | Broadcast and Media R&S BTC broadcast test center features new compliance tests The R&S BTC broadcast test center from Rohde & Schwarz is certified for DTG D-Book and NorDig compliance testing. Two telecommunications agencies have already decided in favor of the system. The R&S BTC test center and R&S AVBrun compliance test software have been in use by the National Broadcast and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in Thailand and the Vietnam Telecommunication Authority (VNTA) since June 2015. In Thailand, the R&S BTC is being used to test DVB-T2 receivers and prepare for rollout.

DVB-T2 is also broadcast in Vietnam, which is why the VNTA cooperated with Rohde & Schwarz to set up a lab for testing compliance with the QCVN 63 standard. This lab will also permit the VNTA to offer the Vietnamese consumer industry compliance testing services for the most important European receiver standards, including NorDig, E-Book and D-Book. The R&S BTC offers unrivalled RF characteristics plus realtime signal generation and realtime audio/video signal analysis. It is the ideal tool for network operators to test receivers compliance with standards. In both countries, Rohde & Schwarz cooperated with StreamSpark, the company that provided the test suites for PSI/SI and audio/video as well as reporting tools.

The R&S BTC performs end-to-end tests for audio and video, making it ideal for compliance tests that can be automated using the AVBrun software application. The result is fully reproducible test cases as described in the specifications and test plans. The test suites for the individual standards include all information required for the test setup and assume complete control of the test equipment and the DUTs. The R&S BTC contains all the tests, including complex test scenarios. Only one test instrument is needed, eliminating time-consuming and expensive setups with many instruments.

The R&S BTC and the R&S AVBrun D-Book test suite help manufacturers minimize test times and the cost of compliance testing. Test suites are currently available for DTG D-Book, NorDig, NBTC and QCVN 63. Additional test suites are under development.
