Vuyo Sokupa, head of Production and Development at the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture, served her last day at the foundation on 30 October 2015.

Sokupa started her journey with the NFVF in May 2015 on a six month contract and was later confirmed as a permanent member of the NFVF s executive team. It has been an exciting journey, exposing me to the intricate world of the film industry It s time for new opportunities, says Sokupa.

Zama Mkosi, the NFVF CEO, wished Sokupa well on her new adventure; From the day she joined our team, Sokupa has been a shining light, a motivator, team member, a rock star and a mentor, not only to her team but also to other members of the organisation. Sokupa has an amazing passion for both the television and film industries. We value the contribution and input she provided in the strategic and daily operations of the organisation, and believe that where ever she is going, she will continue to fly the flag of the film industry.

Sokupa previously held the position of head of Programming at Mzansi Magic channels for M-Net. She obtained her BA Journalism degree and a post-graduate diploma in International Studies and African Diplomacy from Rhodes University.

Her career began at Mail & Guardian where she worked as a trainee journalist. She then moved to the African Leadership Academy and Red Pepper Pictures before joining M-Net in 2012. She managed the creative programming output for the Mzansi Magic channels, providing strategic insight and encouraging increased market share for the company s channels.
