Vizrt Austria moves to new state-of-e-art office facility

Vizrt Austria has opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Vomp, Austria to house R&D, sales, logistics, and IT/ERP teams.

The new facility is focused on the company's flagship products, including Viz Artist, Viz Engine, Viz Virtual Studio, and other systems supporting its real-time broadcast graphics workflow. The building is situated across the Inn River from Vizrt Austria's Schwaz facility, the original home of Peak Software prior to the merger with Norwegian entity Pilot Software and then the virtual studio firm RT-SET to form Vizrt.

The appealing new architecture is a work of art in its own right. This will be apparent to visitors when they first step into the atrium, a light, open, airy space filled with diffused sunlight, says Gerhard Lang, Vizrt's Chief Engineering Officer. With its many meeting and conference areas, the new facility is conducive to greater creative collaboration and technological innovation. I envision many new product breakthroughs developing in this setting.

The facility will feature a control room and studio with the latest production tools.

At the entrance of the new space, visitors are greeted by a virtual studio and a dedicated production control room, visible through large windows. Featured in the studio is Viz Virtual Studio, Mosart automation control, Vitech camera heads and pedestals, a Shotoku Jib and Motion Analysis optical tracking. The studio serves as a showcase for Vizrt graphics products. It's also a setting for quality assurance testing of Vizrt and third party hardware and software by Vizrt R&D teams.

Our new space greatly increases productivity and efficiency in all departments due to optimized workflows, shorter distances between the departments, and ample meeting and training spaces, said Christian Huber, Vizrt's executive vice president of IT and Logistics. Equally important, however, is the office building's climate control system, which will ensure a comfortable working environment for our employees regardless of outdoor temperatures or heat buildup from everyone's computer equipment.

The new facility's state-of-the-art, energy-efficient design uses innovative, green solutions to heat or cool the 2,200 sqm interior without noise or draughts. Underground water is used to drive the central heating/cooling system and indoor air is refreshed twice an hour without wasting energy as the outgoing air transmits its temperature to the incoming air via a heat exchanger. Huber adds, With these green initiatives, the operating cost for the building should be very low.

From an IT perspective, the whole Vizrt group will benefit because the hosting of the global IT systems will just be much more secure. It's equipped with state-of-the-art technology starting from the network infrastructure up to the UPS systems and disaster protection efforts. A 66sqm server room is divided into two areas, one accessible to only IT staff that hosts the corporate IT (including ERR & CRM systems, domain controllers, and electronic mail services), and another which hosts all R&D and support systems.

The new building also offers ergonomic conveniences, such as tables with moveable leafs for easy access to cables underneath, and 19-inch wooden racks with four movable drawers. This allows computer components, such as graphics boards, to be easily serviced without un-cabling or removing them from the racks.

Additional features include double the inventory storage space and a truck loading area that's shielded from inclement weather. The new building also allows for easy expansion of offices, studios, and storage space. While the building currently accommodates 50 workers, a second floor terrace can be converted to additional office space for 20 more. And a third floor can be added, bringing the total office count to over 120 workers.
