Thales is gearing up for Karen Brady's upcoming Women in Business and Tech Expo, from 12-13 October in London. A team of expert employees will share their insights into how Thales supports women in progressing their careers and to play a pivotal role in the business.
Thales is committed to building a future we can all trust, by developing high technology solutions that are both imaginative and sustainable. Delivering cutting edge innovation requires a huge diversity of thought, and this is reflected in the need for a truly diverse workforce - of which women play a fundamental role.
We are absolutely delighted to be a key partner at this year's Women in Business and Tech Expo, said Alice Hardy, Talent Acquisition Partner at Thales. For us, supporting women in the workplace is an absolute priority, and this is such an inspirational event, shining a spotlight and giving advice to those who want to thrive in their careers.
In addition to hosting a stand (STEM area, stand A75) at the event, Thales will be taking part in some key thought leadership sessions across the two days.
12 October at 12.20pm: The Importance of Humanising Neurodiversity in a Neurotypical world Thales Chief Technical Consultant Rachel Craddock, will deliver a talk around neurodiversity in the workplace, specifically focusing on how we can support those who are neurodiverse and looking at the value they bring to business. Rachel has more than 30 years of experience in AI and Machine Learning. She was diagnosed with autism when she was 42 and has since led the Thales Neurodiversity Group in the UK.
13 October at 12.15 - 1.15pm: Most Valuable Career Lessons We Have Learnt As Thales Women in Tech A number of Thales employees will host a roundtable discussion focusing on the most valuable career lessons they have learnt as women in Thales, a must attend event for those wanting to see in action the opportunities that exist in business for women.
Alice continued, At Thales, we are committed to helping people grow, develop and thrive in their careers. We are actively addressing the gender imbalance in our industries in the UK especially in STEM careers (science technology, engineering and maths). 23.3 per cent of our workforce are women, and that is growing. It's why we're so excited to be playing such a key role at this event, recognising the barriers many women face in excelling in their careers and doing something about it is so important for us.
We offer a huge amount of assistance and flexibility to enable women to do what is important to them and to support their lifestyles and ambitions - so we can't wait to share with delegates more information on the roles and opportunities we have available, at all levels within Thales. We currently have 112 graduates and 238 apprentices, and are forecasting an additional 56 graduates and 104 apprentices for our 2023 intake in the UK - so there really is opportunity to work with us and grow your career from the ground up.
As a world-leading global technology business, Thales has always appreciated that there is a responsibility to create value beyond its bottom line - needing to consider the wider impact of its activities for customers, employees and communities.
Alice concludes: Increasing the number of women in Thales and the engineering sector is a key business priority; both because it's the right thing to do as a responsible business and because having a diverse workforce is essential for our continued success.
