Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela has confirmed that Durban Gen actress Fanele Ntuli and former Imbewu: The Seed actor Nkanyiso Mchunu have joined SABC1's soapie Uzalo.

UZALO': FANELE NTULI REPLACES OMUHLE GELA Phil Mphela added that Nkanyiso Mchunu will debut on 10 January in the role of Siphamandla Wizard Nkosi. Zimoja recently reported that Uzalo replaced Omuhle Gela with Durban Gen actress Fanele Ntuli for the role of Nomaswazi .

Gela was allegedly unhappy because she moved from Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal for the show, only to be given a contract that had different terms from what she and the production company had initially agreed on.

Fanele Ntuli takes over the role of Nomaswazi and will be on screen on 2 January 2023.

According to the publication, the former Muvhango actress' departure from the show apparently left chaos in the production.

Producers were under immense stress because they had just finished shooting Season 8, which ended in September and Omuhle had already shot most scenes for season 9, a close source said.

NKANYISO MCHUNU EXITS IMBEWU' City Press revealed in January this year that Nkanyiso Mchunu exited the e.tv telenovela Imbewu: The Seed and stopped filming for the role of Nkululeko Bhengu.

The fan-favourite actor Nkanyiso Mchunu has been replaced with The Wife and former Uzalo actor Kay Sibiya.

Mchunu confirmed his exit on his Facebook page on Friday (21 January)

This is me signing out. Imbewu and I have decided to end our working relationship.

I'd like to thank the production for the opportunity and platform to showcase what I can do. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this journey.

The popular actor told the publication that he is working on something, but couldn't divulge more information.

Sources from the telenovela revealed that Mchunu butted heads with the production team over salary negotiations.
