Schneider Electric championing BRE paper

Schneider Electric, a global energy management specialist, has provided its support for the latest information paper from BRE on Operating BEMS: A practical guide to building energy management systems'.

The paper, which is also supported by ESTA, has been produced as a practical guide to help the many building users in the UK realise potential energy and maintenance savings, by ensuring that the systems they have in place are programmed and functioning correctly.

This paper is one of two which have been produced by BRE. The other - Understanding the Choices for Building Controls' focuses on the choices to consider when choosing a BEMS, whilst this paper focuses on the long term management and maintenance of the building and it's controls.

The 12-page document provides users with practical instructions on how to effectively operate a BEMS to deliver maximum energy savings, as well as outlining the risks that should be considered and giving an overview of strategic issues which the user should be aware of.

As well as covering standard technologies, the paper also examines the latest smart building management software solutions available, such as intelligent analytics and building optimisation. For example, how utilising these new, key technology add-ons to boost and update a BEMS will enable building managers to attain greater knowledge and insight, ensuring that the system is monitored and maintained correctly to promote maximum building efficiency. This in turn can lead to huge benefits for both occupancy comfort, meeting legislative commitments and crucially, for boosting bottom line.
