Thursday evenings Rose dOr award ceremony proved to be a dazzling event. Dutch TV presenter Lucille Werner, with her stunning dress, designed especially by Addy van den Krommenacker, fully embraced the honour of awarding and wearing the prestigious Rose d'Or.
Remco Garcia, head of this years Game Show jury and a former Rose d'Or winner himself, presented the award to the American programme Oh Sit! and was accepted by Phil Gurin of the Gurin Company. Expressing genuine surprise at the win, he urged the audience to please buy this for your territory; it's really fun!
Head of the Reality & Factual Entertainment jury, Indriena Basarah, presented the award to filmmaker Heenan Bhatti of Love Productions for the programme Make Bradford British. The jurys feedback stated that the program touches the heart and has the potential to be successful in many other countries.
The award for Best Sitcom, handed out by jury member Corinna Scholz, went to British Sky Broadcasting programme Spy. Hat Trick Production's Charlie Leech thanked both the fantastic cast and the fantastic crew for the accolade.
Head of the Arts jury, Francois Duplat, presented their award to the producers of "Freddie Mercury: the Great Pretender. Joss Crowley of Eagle Rock Productions accepted the honour, and shared their experiences of making the film, "We scoured the earth for every single piece of archive footage and were thorough in our film research.
Australian Broadcasting Corporations (ABC) Gruen Sweat won the Entertainment category, presented by head of jury and 2012 Rose d'Or recipient Jorg Grabosch. ABCs Head of Entertainment Jennifer Collins acceptance speech was unexpectedly interrupted by fellow nominee Jandino Asporaat (Dutch network NTRs The Dino Show), who joked that he'd spent a lot of money and travelled a long way to be there. Collins shot back with, I came further.
Kelly Leugenbiehl, head of jury for the Comedy category, presented the Rose d'Or to Belgium's What If?, whose entire team of actors, writers and producers converged together to accept the award. With royal family members Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz in attendance, the evening ended on a particularly good note for Belgium.
