American rapper Da Brat, real name Shawntae Harris-Dupart, has revealed that she is pregnant with her first at 48.

Da Brat is married to Jesseca Judy Harris-Dupart. The pair tied the knot over a year ago, in February 2022.

Da Brat and wife announce pregnancy The couple announced the news of their pregnancy in a social media post, with a picture of Da Brat's healthy growing baby bump.

Although the rapper had suffered health complications and miscarriage previously, she, however, shared her journey with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) - a medical procedure designed to help people with fertility problems conceive.

The rapper told the People in a recent interview, It's been quite a journey. There's a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40, said Da Brat who admitted that she was well-versed about the pregnancy risks and complications one could encounter at her age.

I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn't in the cards for me. I've had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn't get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn't going to happen for me, she added.

She talks about her miscarriage I had never been so excited about something that I didn't even know I wanted. I fell in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me. Luckily, we still had quite a few of her eggs left.

Before she fell pregnant, Da Brat reportedly had to undergo medical surgery to get her fibroids and polyps removed before undergoing an embryo transfer procedure.

Her wife, Harris-Dupart, also suffered health complications of her own following her egg-retrieval procedure.

The couple is reported to have three children from Judy's side. The couple's rollercoaster journey to motherhood will be aired in the third season of their TV reality show called Brat loves Judy. The couple's donor remains anonymous.
