PlayBox Technology has supplied its best-selling TV Channel in a Box for VPOD TV's first television channel. The Chicago-based broadcaster has kicked off its range of programming with a selection of classics, indie films, comedies and talk-focused content. The equipment supplied includes one Channel in a Box server, which handles playout, ingest, graphics and scheduling for VPOD TV.
VPOD TV chose PlayBox Technology for its rich range of features and competitive price , comments Mark Vadik, founder of VPOD TV. The system architecture was also seen as flexible, scalable, and adaptable, which means that the Channel in a Box is capable of meeting our future requirements, he continues. The central playout solution, AirBox, allows the unattended and automated running of on-air program materials, advertisements, graphics and more.
PlayBox Technology's dedicated technical support team worked with VPOD TV throughout the installation stage to build and configure VPOD TV's desired workflow. The VPOD TV team are impressed with the features, including the multi-parallel output capability which allows operators to output channel content simultaneously to multiple SDI / IP sources. VPOD TV's workflow is primarily centred around file-based content, taking advantage of AirBox's ability to accommodate virtually any media file format for playout. Yet VPOD TV also enjoys the freedom to insert live events when needed into their 24/7 AirBox schedule.
