His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Monday evening witnessed the breathtaking light show hosted by the newly opened Al Qasimia University as part of the Sharjah Light Festival. The sixth edition of the Sharjah Light Festival has been organised by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) under the theme of Travel Across Time,' representing timeless passage and ties across cultures, arts, books and history, and the bonds between various human cultures.

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Monday evening witnessed the breathtaking light show hosted by the newly opened Al Qasimia University as part of the Sharjah Light Festival. The sixth edition of the Sharjah Light Festival has been organised by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) under the theme of Travel Across Time,' representing timeless passage and ties across cultures, arts, books and history, and the bonds between various human cultures.

The spectacular light show hosted by Al Qasimia University is titled A Falcon's Flight'. A huge velvet curtain sweeps across the enormous building's fa ade to narrate the story of a falcon's travel from Sharjah, the land of civilisation and history, to enchantingly beautiful places.

The grand buildings of Al Qasimia University, the University City Hall and Al Qasimia Mosque celebrating the beauty of Islamic architecture have for the first time been illuminated as part of the celebrations of the Sharjah Light Festival that opened on Thursday, February 4. The festival will run till February 13 at 23 locations across the emirate. The show aptly displays moments from the UAEs art and cultural history. One of the attractive aspects of the show is the three-dimensional effects projected on the building walls.

On this occasion, HH the Ruler of Sharjah received an exquisite model of Al Qasimia University basking under the spotlight of Sharjah Light Festival from HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the SCTDA Commercial Development Authority and Tourism as a memento. He also posed for a group photograph with the Sharjah Light Festival team.

HH the Ruler of Sharjah was received by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director of the Department of Statistics, HE Sheikh Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Rulers Office, HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the SCTDA, HE Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of Protocol and Guest Houses, Dr. Rashad Salem, Vice Chancellor of Al Qasimia University and a number of dignitaries and senior officials.

The new locations for this year's festival include Al Qasimia University, Masjid Al Qasimiya, University City Hall, Planetarium, New Jubail Market, Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, Cultural Palace, Kalba Corniche Park, Government Buildings, Al Akd Al Fareed Street, Dibba Al Hisn, and selected buildings at Buhairah Corniche.

The festival will also light up other landmarks, buildings and tourist attractions such as Al Qasba (Internal Facades), Masjid Al Taqwa (Al Majaz Waterfront), Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Cultural Square, Masjid Al Noor, Sharjah University Khorfakkan, Masjid Ammar Bin Yasser in Al Dhaid, presenting several surprises and new creative designs this year.
