FE DE ETARRAS A NETFLIX ORIGINAL MOVIE WILL RELEASE THEATRICALLY ON DECEMBER 7TH

Madrid, November 6th, 2017 - Netflix, the world's leading internet entertainment network has announced today that its second Spanish original movie, Fe de etarras will be released theatrically on December 7th on at least 20 screens in cinemas across the country with the main focus in Madrid, Barcelona and the Basque Country.

Netflix is delighted consumers will have the opportunity to chose where to see this movie, both in selected cinemas from December 7th and on Netflix where it has been available to its members around the world since October 12th. Consumer choice is Netflix ultimate goal when programming original content and this is a step forward in that direction.

Directed by Borja Cobeaga (Negociador, No controles) and written by Diego San Jos (co-writer of recent box office success Spanish Affair and Spanish Affair 2), the film features Javier C mara (Narcos, Truman, Living is Easy with Eyes Closed), Juli n L pez (Age of Monster, Off Course, Friend Zone), Miren Ibarguren (Anclados, A da, La que se avecina) and Gorka Otxoa (All abajo, Los mi rcoles no existen, Friend Zone). This second Spanish Netflix original movie is a Mediapro production (Mondays In The Sun, Midnight in Paris, The Secret Life of Words, A Perfect Day) and will be released theatrically in a selection of best cinemas across Spain thanks to a partnership with Spanish producer and distributor A contracorriente.

The Borja Cobeaga and Diego San Jos tandem demonstrate once again their acute sense of humor, creating a uniquely dark comedy which received a ten-minute standing ovation from nearly 3000 people attending the San Sebastian Film Festival premiere. Director Cobeaga said to see the theatre full of people all laughing at once has been one of the most amazing experiences of my career. Indeed a wonderfully overwhelming sensation .

Fe de etarras is set in the sweltering summer of 2010 in a provincial Spanish town. A peculiar, dysfunctional armed group, formed by a veteran eager to prove he is not a coward (Javier C mara), a couple seemingly held together by ETA (Miren Ibarguren and Gorka Otxoa) and a man from La Mancha who believes becoming a member of the organization or being Chuck Norris is one and the same (Juli n L pez), find themselves stuck in a flat awaiting an elusive phone call which would allow them to go into action. To top it all, the Spanish national football team wins the World Cup in South Africa and has the whole country celebrating.
