Netflix UK Partners With #Merky Books to Demystify Creative Industries

Today we announced our partnership with Stormzy's award-winning publishing imprint, #Merky Books, to launch its 2023 literature festival, taking place on 22-23 April in London.
The free festival aims to demystify creative industries and inspire a new generation of creatives. It will showcase established authors, expert speakers, as well as new voices, and include a range of talks, workshops and live performances. It will cover not only literature, but writing and storytelling across film and TV, music and photography.
The headline event on Saturday 22 April is a panel discussion with Netflix's UK Director of Film, Fiona Lamptey alongside artist Wretch 32 and playwright, John Agard. Malorie Blackman - former Children's Laureate and author of the award-winning Noughts and Crosses' series - will be interviewed by Radio 1 Presenter, Vick Hope on Sunday 23 April.
Attendees will also have access to workshops and masterclasses on a range of subjects: from how to secure creative funding, to mental health and resilience, photography as a means of storytelling, and insights into adapting a book for TV - from page to screen. Guests will also have the opportunity to unpack the career journeys of members of the Netflix UK team, demystifying what it's like to work in film and TV.
Events like the #Merky Books Literature Festival open up our industry to young people and show the range of real and accessible careers available to them.
