Jan Gooze-Zijl named UKTV Chief Financial & Operations Officer

7 October 2014 Britain's fastest growing commercial broadcaster, UKTV announced today that CFO, Jan Gooze-Zijl has been awarded an expanded remit which encompasses advertising sales, technology and operations.

In his new role of Chief Financial & Operations Officer, Gooze-Zijl will oversee UKTV's relationships with C4 Sales and Sky Media Ireland, with UKTV now making up slightly over 9% of British commercial viewing. He will also assume responsibility for all technical and operational aspects of UKTV, owning relationships with Red Bee Media and TVT, and delivering linear and non-linear services including UKTV's first digital-only brand, UKTV Play. Gooze-Zijl also continues to direct UKTV's company finances: setting financial targets, controlling profitability and cash-flow and management accounting.

The news follows UKTV's recent announcement of record revenue at £278m and record investment in programming and programme launches at £125m.

On the strength of UKTV's offer to advertisers, Gooze-Zijl added,

UKTV is the fastest growing commercial broadcaster and of increasing significance to British advertisers, with Dave alone offering advertisers greater reach among ABC1 and 16-34 year old men than Sky Sports. This year, the SOCI (share of commercial impacts) for our imaginative portfolio of channels has reached 9.1%, a gain of 17% over the same period in 2013 making our network superb value for advertisers, and offering full coverage across all demos and a fast-growing number of platforms.

Gooze-Zijl starts in his new role immediately, following the departure of Julia Jordan, Executive Director Business & Operations.

UKTV has sustained a three-year period of uninterrupted viewership acceleration with the network retaining its status as fastest growing commercial broadcaster in Britain throughout 2014, according to BARB data. The company recently released its financial results, showing that in the calendar year 2013, revenues were up 6% to £278m while profit margins reached 27.6% on an underlying basis (24.2% reported EBITDA).
