Schaeffler congratulates Porsche on winning manufacturers' WEC

The hard work in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) has paid off. Following their fifth victory in succession, Schaeffler's partner Porsche has been determined as the winner of the manufacturers' classification. At Shanghai, Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Mark Webber won the 6-hour race in the Porsche 919 Hybrid ahead of the sister car. As a result, Porsche and Schaeffler celebrated their fourth one-two result of the season, including the tremendous triumph in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

For Schaeffler, the cooperation with Porsche in the World Endurance Championship represents an ideal platform. The extreme demands in the WEC perfectly fit the qualities which the company defines for its production technologies as well. There is hardly a tougher test laboratory for developing and proving future hybrid systems. All of the entered Porsche 919 Hybrid cars covered more than 29,000 kilometers in racing this year, producing about 5,800 kilowatt hours of electric power in the process - enough energy to supply an average German 2-person household for 600 days.

On November 21, the WEC season finale is on the agenda. In Bahrain, Schaeffler will be keeping their fingers crossed once more for Porsche to clinch the second WEC title as well. In the drivers' classification, the Bernhard/Hartley/Webber trio enjoys a twelve-point advantage before the final round.
