Simon Mayo announced for Radio Festival

Radio Festival will be led for the second time by creative director, Nick Pitts, bringing together leading figures and experts from across the media and UK audio industry talking on the theme of The New Age of Audio.

Simon Mayo, who recently made his debut on Bauer's new classical and entertainment station, Scala Radio, will be looking at how he is not only ushering in a new era in his own broadcasting career, but how the launch of Scala demonstrates the radio industry's ability to continue to innovate, delivering a new age of audio. And after a career of some 37 years spent working with the BBC, he will also share how he has acclimatised to being on the commercial side and what both sides could learn from the each other.

Here we are, only starting April and 2019 has already seen more radio and audio action that most years see in total. Top talent has shaken up the market by moving, the next stage of consolidation in UK commercial radio is underway and the podcast business has exploded and that's not even mentioning tech advancements and BBC Local Radio! I'm very excited to announce Simon Mayo as our first great speaker, with many more to be announced, as part of our New Age of Audio Festival.

Radio Festival will kick-off this year's Radio Audio Week, which celebrates the audio revolution', with a series of industry events and networking sessions to follow across the week, culminating at the British Podcast Awards on Saturday May 18th.
