What are the food options at IBC 05? ...

After looking round one of the world's largest broadcast technology shows, the mind quickly veers from cameras, asset management and drones, to food.

All too often, the awesome products and demos on the show floor are badly let down by the grub the venue has to offer. Chips, burgers, pizza and not a lot else seems to be the general theme when it comes to exhibition catering. For a show that lasts the best part of 6 days, a constant diet of this could become a little tiresome! I saw one visitor chomping on a cucumber as if to illustrate this point. So I thought it was about time someone shared what's available to make the show more gastronomically pleasing.

Colleagues tell me trade shows are inherently bad when it comes to feeding the thousands of visitors they welcome. The RAI in Amsterdam has at least tried to offer the IBC crowd some variety and there are some excellent choices available if you can be in the right part of the vast venue when you get hungry, of course!

Here's my roundup of the best voederen on offer:

Hall 7:

Italian Pizza

Burgers

Classic Dutch Snacks

Asian Food (mainly curries)

Sandwiches (with a healthy option available)

Beach Bar:

Tuna sandwich

Burgers

Curry

Fish and chips on the beach bar terrace

Entrance to 13:

Verse Friethoes chips/fries

Sate man stewed beef meal

Entrance C:

Opzouten meat, chips, sauce in a cone

Burgerij cheese burger or veggie burger with oyster mushrooms and vegetables

Entrance 14:

Coffee, Donuts and Hot Dogs

De Sapkar smoothies

Hall 4:

Mamasia Asian food

Van Dobben Dutch food

So what did I go for? Burgerij cheese burger as it had the biggest queue, and looked like the best value for money whilst not being completely deep fried
