Beltelecom has provided technical capability to connect all Belarusian schools to the Internet 03.11.2014

The requirement of "State Program of the Development of General Secondary Education in the Republic of Belarus for 2007 - 2016" in terms of internatization of general secondary education institutions has been fulfilled by RUE Beltelecom in time. Today all Belarusian schools have technical capability to connect to the Internet. The project aimed at increasing the availability of "school" Internet has been implemented in stages; the work has been done at the expense of RUE Beltelecom.

In order to ensure technical capability to connect all Belarusian schools to the Internet Beltelecom has already paved more than 700 km of fiber-optic communication links to the remote rural settlements, where the schools are situated.

Improvement of accessibility to the Internet resources in Belarusian educational institutions is an important stage in the overall process of informatization in the republic. But the company is not satisfied with what has already been achieved. The next step of Beltelecom in this way will be the development of special offers for schools and teachers in order to assist them in their professional activities, taking the advantage of modern information technology.

Thus in September, by the beginning of the current academic year, Beltelecom increased the speed of the Internet access on the tariff plan "Shkolny standart" by 33%, with the cost of the service remaining unchanged.

In October this year Beltelecom announced the launch of a special promotion for rural teachers: until the end of the school year they are to be provided with a discount of 25% on the tariff plans "Komfort" and "Domosed".

Provision of access to the Internet in rural schools has become a separate important area of work for RUE Beltelecom as internetization in schools enables to provide additional capabilities for teaching and learning activities not only in urban but also in rural schools.
