tves new multimedia schools resource on the London Grid for Learning

tve's new multimedia schools resource on the environment launches this week, reaching a million students through the innovative digital educational portal, the London Grid for Learning.
Aimed at 11- to 14-year-olds, the exciting tve: Relay resource combines films, worksheets, facts, teachers' notes and a video platform for secondary school students to engage with all things environmental.
tve: Relay is based on 22 films made by young people across the globe to coincide with the London Olympics. In a series supported by Bloomberg, each filmmaker passed on the environmental baton, creating a series of short, punchy and engaging films and animations on issues from bees to climate change to rubbish collection.
Now the baton is being passed to London students. In addition to engaging in five thought-provoking lessons, young Londoners can make and upload their own videos about the environment on the London Grid for Learning site.
Through our 2,500 member schools, tve: Relay could allow a million young Londoners to identify and debate environmental issues, and even make their own films,' said LGfL's Bob Usher. The curriculum-linked resources offer activities for teachers to engage students. '

tve: Relay is ideal for cross-curricular projects in Citizenship, Geography, English, Media, ICT and Art and Design.

The London Grid for Learning (LGfL) is a consortium of London local authorities and 2,500 schools working together to provide cost-effective ICT services, including an educational portal. tve has been making films about the environment and development for 30 years. In 2013 tve films had an audience reach of more than one billion viewers via global and national broadcasters, the internet, community screenings and events in schools and universities.
