Ahead of is weekends the Baby Show, Panasonic Brit Blogger, Michelle Ordever, offers some top photo tips

Today, Panasonic has released research which reveals that the majority of us (57%) have wanted to bake more thanks to The Great British Bake Off. A whopping 71% of young Brits** are dusting down their surfaces thanks to the nation's favourite baking show. Following the latest series, 86% of young Brits have been inspired to bake cakes, 66% have tried biscuits and a daring 53% have made pies and tarts.

However, kitchen disasters can befall even the best baker - findings from Panasonic show that 44% of young bakers didn't get enough rise in their culinary creation, 32% have experienced a soggy bottom , and 15% suffered from their bake not being proved for the right amount of time.

Unsurprisingly therefore, although more of us want to bake, we want kitchen gadgets to help us to achieve star baker results - 79% of all respondents said they were interested in home appliances that could make baking easier. An even higher proportion of young Brits are interested in gadgets that ensure a perfect bake, at 91%.

It is fantastic that The Great British Bake Off has inspired the nation to bake more, and nine out of ten young bakers are interested in gadgets and quick fixes to help them achieve star bakes', commented Zeena Hill, Head of Home Appliance Marketing at Panasonic UK.

Breadmakers are not the only kitchen appliances that Brits are turning to for uses beyond the obvious, so Panasonic has collated a Top Ten of anecdotal real-life examples:

1. I've put bacon in the toaster

2. 7 respondents admitted to cooking salmon in the dishwasher

3. Using an espresso machine to make cheese on toast

4. 18 respondents have tried boiling eggs directly in the kettle

5. You can use a glass to skin a mango

6. A water kettle to make soup (it was not a success....)

7. I'm currently baking a carrot cake in my slow cooker!

8. I've used a toaster to warm up a sausage roll

9. I use my cake mixer to mash my potatoes

10. A toaster for fish fingers
