IBM Security Named a Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management

ARMONK, NY - 29 Jul 2015: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that Gartner, Inc. has named IBM Security as a leader in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) for the seventh year in a row in the newly published Gartner Magic Quadrant for SIEM.[1] This news follows a recent Gartner report listing IBM as the fastest growing vendor in the global security software market based on 2014 revenue.[2]

SIEM plays a critical role in helping companies find and stop security attacks earlier by analyzing data across an organizations IT infrastructure in real-time to identify potential security threats.

IBM Security QRadar SIEM is a core component of IBM's approach to security, built around powerful data analytics and leveraging real-time input from the IBM X-Force Threat Intelligence network. These capabilities allow QRadar to analyze vast amounts of data and accurately prioritize potential security events, separating real threats from explainable anomalies.

For the second year in a row, IBM was positioned the furthest for both completeness of vision and the ability to execute. On the completeness of vision scale, Gartner analysts evaluated the ability of vendors to understand buyers wants and needs, and to translate those into products and services. With regard to ability to execute, Gartner evaluated on seven criteria, including customer experience and market responsiveness.

Earlier this year, IBM Security brought the power of QRadar SIEM to the cloud, launching new cloud-based software-as-a-service delivery models that combine advanced monitoring and analytics with the simplicity of a hosted deployment. IBM also provides customers with the option to support these offerings through a platform of managed security services, along with deep expertise amassed from handling over 15 billion security events per day, for over 4,000 clients around the world.

The IBM Security QRadar portfolio provides an integrated platform for security intelligence, spanning SIEM, log management, anomaly detection, incident forensics and configuration and vulnerability management. This approach helps improve ease of use and enhances threat detection across organizations by reducing individual products from multiple security vendors [3].

Advanced threat intelligence is also a key strength of IBM Security QRadar, a capability growing in necessity as attackers become increasingly sophisticated. To help fight the exploding global issue of cybercrime, IBM recently launched IBM X-Force Exchange, a new platform integrated with QRadar, which enables the sharing of security threats and collaboration on threat intelligence across the private sector.
