CG Student Awards Open to Entrants

CG Student Awards is accepting entries for the 2014 Autodesk CG Student Awards through to May 15, 2014.

Owned and produced by The Tasman Theory Pty Ltd., and sponsored by Autodesk, the event showcases excellence in computer graphics from students and recent graduates from the world's leading training facilities.

This year's awards have over $230,000 in prizes and 15 studio internships available to winners.

There are six main categories of Awards:

School of the Year: Open to all schools to enter. Over $100,000 in prizes.

VFX/Animation: Open to VFX and animation artists.

Next-Gen Gaming: Open to games designers and developers.

Young Guns: New category open to secondary school students.

People's Choice: Voted by the public.

Bootcamp Placements: 15 internships at leading studios.

This is an incredible opportunity for students and recent alumni to showcase their work to industry experts, and its simply the best possible way to launch your career in these competitive industries, declared Andrew McDonald, co-founder of the awards.

Students who are interested in creating and submitting entries for the Awards can download the latest versions of Autodesk Media & Entertainment portfolio for free from the CG Student Awards website or the Autodesk Education Community. They can also access free game design, video and film tutorials and learning resources, as well as discussion forums and blogs on Autodesk AREA.

All computer graphics students who attended an accredited course during January 2013 - May 2014 are invited to take part by submitting their latest demo reel and best artwork to the judging panel.

Examples of suitable courses are Computer Animation, Bachelor of Computer Graphics, Animation and Interactive Media, Game Design and Development, 3D Computer Animation, Digital Effects, Computer Visualization, Computer Science, Visual Effect (VFX) Courses. All other courses with similar curriculum are deemed suitable.

The Awards have an extensive list of high-profile companies sponsoring the event: Autodesk, Digital Tutors, Nvidia, Pixologic, Wacom, Conceptshare, SiteGround, Next-Limit Technologies, The Foundry, Ownage, Chaos Group, GTechnology, Side Effects Software, 3D Artist magazine, 3D Total, 3D-Coat and Allegorithmic.

Leading production studios Crytek, Weta Digital, Double Negative, Epic Games, Framestore, Gameloft, The Mill, Method Studios, MPC, Ninja Theory and Prime Focus are also offering 15 professional internships throughout Europe, USA, Canada, and New Zealand. Each studio offers slightly different internships, but an internship winner can expect to receive two to six months of professional experience, support and guidance from industry leading experts, a standard intern salary, and an amazing opportunity to network and prove their skills.
