Akin Omotoso s Vaya gets ten nominations at AMAA 2017 --

Vaya, the South African movie directed by Akin Omotoso has been nominated in ten categories for this years Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), including Best Director, Best Film and the Best Film in an African Language.

The nominations announcement took place at the Kigali Convention Centre (KCC) which will also be the awards ceremony event on 3 June 2017. Jury president, Bernie Goldblalast announced the list of thirty categories which were decided upon by a group of six judges from the AMAA Jury and led by the awards founder, Peace Anyiam Osigwe.

Besides Vaya, other South Africa films that made the list included: Happiness is a Four-Letter Word, Call Me Thief, Doras Peace and The Whale Caller.

Other African movies of interest include the historical Nigerian drama, 76 which bagged eight nominations, while the Ugandan movie which stars Lupita Nyongo, Queen of Katwe was also nominated in eight categories.
