Kagiso restructures management team for optimum growth in Africa --

As part of its strategy to grow its business across Africa in the years to come, Kagiso New Media, the digital and new media division of Kagiso Media, has restructured its management team.

Former Kagiso Digital divisional head Attila Bernariusz will take the role of general manager of operations and Pierre Cassuto will assume the position of business development manager at Kagiso New Media.

Creating synergies and efficiencies across the commercial, operational and editorial functions, the new organisational structure unites Kagisos owned digital assets and those it operates under licence from Microsoft under a single leadership team.

On behalf of Microsoft, the group operates the South African, Kenyan and Nigerian MSN country portals as well as the South African Skype advertising platform. Digital properties owned by Kagiso Media include the Zalebs website and the digital presences of Kagiso Media radio stations East Coast Radio and Jacaranda FM.

We have consolidated and strengthened our management team to position ourselves for the opportunities of a fast-growing and increasingly competitive South African digital publishing market, says Marcus Stephens, general manager for publishing at Kagiso New Media. This new structure allows us to offer a more integrated service to our advertisers, increase efficiencies, and ultimately, deliver an even better product to our end-users.

He adds: We will be looking at ways of unlocking more synergies across our various digital properties as well as between advertising and customised content as we seek to defend our margins in an increasingly competitive market.

Native advertising is a growing part of our offer, differentiating our offering to the advertiser and helping brands to reach a large audience cost-effectively with rich, tailored content, concludes Stephens.
