The Australian Directors Guild (ADG), Screen Australia and Playmaker Media today announced director Christopher Stollery as the first director's attachment for 2015. Christopher will be attached to Grant Brown on Playmaker TV series House Husbands series 4, which will begin production in Melbourne in February. As part of the Director's Attachment Scheme this arrangement also marks the first TV drama attachment. The industry incentive program is funded by Screen Australia and managed by the ADG for emerging directors to develop their craft.
Christopher Stollery said, I m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be chosen for this attachment on such a successful production. This is perfect timing and a fantastic opportunity to move into directing for television.
Christopher Stollery started his career as an actor graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art and has an extensive list of credits across theatre, feature film and TV. He started directing several years ago with a number of very successful short films and has recently graduated from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School as a director.
Screen Australia's Creative Director, Veronica Gleeson, said, Screen Australia continues to recognise and support the deep necessity of hands-on talent development with this scheme. We applaud the ADG for their strategic thinking, congratulate Christopher and look forward to seeing how this experience informs both his practice and that of future recipients.
The Director's Attachment Scheme will provide eligible candidates with the opportunity for attachments on up to six TV drama series and three feature films in 2015.
In 2014, Ariel Martin was attached to Neil Armfield on his feature Holding the Man and Dimitrios Pouliotis on the Matt Saville feature A Month of Sundays currently shooting in Adelaide.
Previous attachments include: Grant Sputore attached to Kriv Stenders on Kill Me Three Times, Stephen McCallum attached the Tony Ayres on Cut Snake and Matthew Moore on the Robert Connolly directed film Paper Planes.
