African Film Development Awards highlight industry leaders --

The African Film Development Awards, which took place at the Zanzibar International Film Festival, honoured and celebrated industry professionals which contribute to the growth and development of African cinema.
Nairobi Half Life a Kenyan film directed by David Tosh Gitonga, won Best African Film and earned the filmmaker a Future of African Cinema Award.
Actress Miram Mimi Orjiekwe was awarded Best New Face of Nollywood, to which she remarked, I am excited about it. I have won couple of awards, but this feels special. I am challenged to do better.

Award for Best African Film Promoter - Hans Christian Mahnke, Namibia
Award for Best Jury Review - Shadow Tree, directed by Biju Viswanath, Tanzania
Award for Best African Film - Nairobi Half Life, Kenya
Future of African Cinema Award - David Tosh Gitonga, Kenya
Award for Best Kiswahili Film Network, directed by John Kallage, Tanzania
Award for Best African Film Director - Faouzi Bensaidi (Death for Sale), Morocco
Lifetime Achievement Award - Martin Mhando, Tanzania and Richard Mofe Damijo, Nigeria
