What s Up Africa returns to BBC World News Focus on Africa for a fifth series, beginning on Wednesday 1 March. For the country special episodes this series, Nigerian-born vlogger, Ikenna Azuike, brings his critically-acclaimed, irreverent news segment from Kenya.

Tapping into audiences, What s Up Africa fans were asked about the topics they wanted to feature in the new series. From corruption to false prophets, the International Criminal Court to the Kenyan police force, Azuike brings his satirical spin to the stories that Kenyans want to hear about.

Azuike s popular character, the dentally challenged Pastor Azuike, also makes an appearance, rubbing shoulders with one of the country s moral policemen , Ezekiel Mutua, the chief executive of the Kenya Film and Classification Board.

We love telling the news in different ways and for this season of What s Up Africa viewers will see ideas we ve never tried before, said Azuike. Look out for our collaborations with some of Kenya s most talented young creatives like the The Refourth Chorus, and actors Eric Omondi and Vincent Odhiambo.

What s Up Africa airs two 90-second episodes a week on Wednesdays and Fridays, making it more clickable and easily shareable on social media. Wednesday s episodes will be an in-depth look into Kenyan topics, while Friday s episodes are round-ups of the latest news from across the continent.

What s Up Africa will be broadcast every Wednesday and Friday on Focus on Africa from 17h30 GMT on BBC World News and on the BBC s partner stations: Canal 2 in Cameroon; Metro TV in Ghana; Power TV in Liberia; MBC in Malawi; One Africa Television in Namibia; SBLC in Sierra Leone; Star TV in Tanzania; Urban TV and TV West in Uganda; and ZNBC in Zambia.

The new series, created especially for the BBC, is a co-production between the BBC and Dutch media organisation RNW Media. The series begins on Wednesday 1 March and will conclude on Friday 31 March.
