Fresh new additions to Sony's High-Resolution Audio line-up take you beyond CD quality to a new world of purer, truer sound.
While MP3 files sacrifice precious detail in the original signal, High-Resolution Audio retains far more information during the analogue-to-digital conversion process. The result is more authentic sound that's closer to the way the artist and their audience originally heard it.
STR-DN1050 and STR-DN850 Network AV Receivers
Two feature-packed new AV receivers for Spring '14 bring you no-compromise High-Resolution Audio plus generous networking options. Premium-grade components and meticulous construction guarantee that the STR-DN1050 and STR-DN850 deliver sumptuously detailed sound that any audiophile can appreciate.
The STR-DN1050 and STR-DN850 let you enjoy music as it was always meant to be heard - including DSD[1] and 192KHz/24-bit (WAV/FLAC) files. Both receivers can stream exquisite Hi-Res sound over your home network - or alternatively, hook up your phone or slip in a USB drive loaded with your favourite High-Res tracks. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allows easy wireless connection with mobile devices. Plus, both models offer one-touch listening with Xperia and other NFC-enabled Android devices and Apple Airplay.
The flagship STR-DN1050 takes your home entertainment experience to new heights. Best-in-class construction employs a rigid chassis that cuts unwanted vibration, plus a glass epoxy resin circuit board. Custom components include a super-size power transformer plus hand-selected block electrolytic capacitors and audio-grade resistors.
The receiver's massive 165W x 7.2ch output power with super wideband amplifier circuitry reproduces your entire music collection with soul-shaking clarity. On-board 4K pass through brings extra detail to lower-resolution video sources - great for enjoying Blu-ray Disc movies and other content on your 4K television. Zone 2 distribution lets you enjoy audio simultaneously in other rooms, and the receiver's intuitive visual interface makes it easy to adjust settings via your TV screen and simplified new remote.
Effortlessly explore your world of High-Resolution Audio entertainment with the uncluttered new remote. Or use Sony's free SongPal app[2] (iOS6/Android 2.3.3 or later) to control the receiver with your phone and browse online services like Music Unlimited, Spotify and Deezer. Since these built-in apps are native' to the receiver, you'll enjoy pure, uncompromised sound that's superior to listening to music cloud services on your PC or mobile phone.
MAP-S1 Multi Audio Player System
It's all right here - the compact MAP-S1 has a powerful 100W amplifier, tuner and CD player integrated in a sleek, elegant unit that fits neatly on a shelf or bookcase. Just add speakers and you're ready for an incredible Hi-Resolution Audio[3] experience.
The versatile MAP-S1 plays High-Resolution as well as MP3 and other audio formats from a wide range of sources and connected devices. Sony's S-Master HX Audio Amplifier reduces distortion and noise, while DSEE HX upscales your existing music collection - including compressed files and CDs - to better than CD quality.
Stream music over your home network from a PC or Internet services like Spotify and Music Unlimited. Connect a USB thumb drive, or hook up your smartphone via cable, Bluetooth or Apple AirPlay. Just one touch instantly makes a wireless connection with your NFC-enabled Xperia phone or tablet for effortless listening.
For truly satisfying results, team the MAP-S1 with Sony's new SS-HW1 High-Resolution Speakers. Fine-tuned to get the very best from High-Resolution Audio sources, these audiophile-grade bookshelf speakers express the finest nuances of your music collection. The 13cm woofer features an MRC (Mica Reinforced Cellular) fibre cone that's extremely light yet rigid to minimise unwanted resonance and colouration. The unique WD(Wide Dispersion)-Super Tweeter reproduces extended high frequencies with unprecedented transparency and realism.
BDP-S7200 SA-CD/Blu-ray Disc Player
Sony's newest Blu-ray Disc player adds High-Resolution audio playback capabilities to an awesome list of specifications. The range-topping BDP-S7200 teams peerless pictures with stunning sound, whether you're enjoying favourite movies on disc or a mouth-watering choice of online entertainment services.
Quick access to a world of online content is complemented by exciting new enhancements to picture and sound quality. It's the first Blu-ray Disc player from Sony that can play both Super Audio CD and Hi-Resolution audio files - slip in a disc and hear every note with an authenticity and impact that's uncanny. And even if you're listening to low-res Internet videos or MP3 tracks, Sony's Digital Music Enhancer gives your sound a natural high, restoring frequencies that get lost in heavily-compressed files.
If you're watching Blu-ray Disc movies on the BDP-S7200, 4K upscaling gives your favourite titles the red carpet treatment with four times the detail of Full HD on your 4K television. Even web video quality is boosted with IP Content Noise Reduction Pro that's powered by the speedy Dual Core processor for crisper pictures, rich textures and natural tonal gradations.
Improved Wi-Fi helps stream videos and music more reliably across your network. There's a world of online entertainment to explore with instant access to movies, music, catch-up TV, and more from Sony Entertainment Network. Flick through a selection of online channels, or load up the latest YouTube videos. Screen mirroring with Miracast even lets you share photos, videos, and music right from your smartphone or tablet on your TV screen.
The new range of High-Resolution Audio products from Sony are on sale in Europe from May 201
