Bulls, Salamanders Host Bulk Chicken Sale, Offer Opportunity to Donate to Urban Ministries

The Durham Bulls and Holly Springs Salamanders have not gotten to host baseball games in the past year, but the staff is using the ballparks to help support their communities. For the latest, the Bulls and Salamanders are hosting bulk sales of Mountaire Farms Chicken on Wednesday, January 20 in Holly Springs at Ting Park and Wednesday, January 27 in Durham. Discount prices are being offered on 40-pound cases of fresh chicken breasts and drumsticks.

We were approached by Mountaire Farms back in May in 2020 about doing this when everything shut down and the poultry plants had a lot of product they needed to get out, explained Bull City Hospitality Director of Food and Beverage Dave Levey. At the time we ended up doing two sales in Durham with over 1,500 customers each time. As we approached the end of the year and saw cases spiking we thought this may be another good time to partner with Mountiare, which they were thinking the same thing. So we decided that late January would be a good time to do this.

The teams chose to add Holly Springs this time, so that CBC baseball could serve two different areas of the Triangle.

As an added benefit, the Bulls and Salamanders are offering the option to purchase a case to be donated to Urban Ministries of Durham, a proud partner of the United Way of the Greater Triangle.

During the Spring sales we had a number of customers come through and they would were purchasing food for shelters and taking it to them, said Levy. So, we decided that this would be something we should make part of the ordering process, so that others could make donations.
