In what represents the final year in the current three-year iteration of the Enterprise program, which will be re-imagined in 2017, we have committed up to $2.4 million across the Enterprise Industry and Enterprise People strands for 2016 applicants.
The two key priorities for both of these schemes will continue to be supporting exceptional talent and pursuing ambitious ideas," says Richard Harris, Head of Business and Audience.
Supporting talent is a key strategic driver for Screen Australia, and with the explosion of screen content being made by exciting Australian creators across all platforms, we will be looking to promote the development of this new generation through Enterprise as much as we can.
People is the primary Enterprise strand that focuses on talent development, and once again we will be looking to support exciting new writers, directors and producers to be placed with production companies, to work with peers in their fields to extend their skills and craft.
At the same time, we are excited by ideas and that is where Enterprise Industry comes in. Industry has attracted an incredibly diverse range of projects and proposals in the past and we are keen to really extend its scope in the final year of this phase.
We are seeking proposals that can really make a difference to our industry: be they related to production, financing or distribution; targeted at talent or businesses; or whether they are locally or internationally focused. The industry is undergoing fundamental change and we are in the market for ideas that are innovative or game-changing in some way, and that will have real benefit for the broader industry.
Funding proposals from screen companies seeking to grow their businesses should be compelling and we will prioritise those that genuinely have an eye to the future. We encourage applicants to look beyond existing business models, to assess where the industry is heading in five or ten years. Applicants should be identifying the opportunities opening up and express how funding will help them deliver a tangible result.

Enterprise Industry will again seek applications via a two-stage process. At the first stage applicants will have the opportunity to present an Expression of Interest in order to pitch their key concept and the highlights of their proposal. A video pitch is optional but recommended, as it gives applicants an opportunity to speak to their proposals, what they are wanting to achieve and how they intend to realise their idea. Shortlisted applicants will receive an invitation to apply for the second round.
Expressions of Interest for Enterprise Industry are due by 5 August and applications for Enterprise People by 21 August. Both are submitted online.
