LynTec, a leading manufacturer of innovative electrical power control solutions for professional audio, video, and lighting (AVL) systems, is the power control solutions provider of choice for Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky. After successfully installing LynTec lighting control panels in other buildings on campus, integration firm JCA Media chose and installed LynTecs RPC Remote Control Breaker Panel to provide easy-to-operate, circuit-level zoned control of the AVL systems for the schools broadcast studios inside the universitys new mass communication center.

We consistently use the companys LCRP retrofit boxes for churches that are changing out their old-school dimming systems to LED, where they need be able to have DMX relays to turn off their circuits, said Alex Peake, integration specialist at JCA Media. LynTec has always been a great solution for us. Its 100% reliable and they have great customer support that always takes the time to walk me through any questions I might have. It was the perfect answer for the universitys TV studio.
The lighting installation for the two studios included impressive Light Source MEGABATTEN light grids, giving the large studio 22 circuits in the ceiling and 16 circuits for the small studio. Once JCA put in plugs on the walls, house lights, and installed the control room AV Peake had 62 circuits that called for robust, reliable power control solution. The impressive control room features an Allen & Heath SQ-6 mixing console with two DX168 stage boxes, Powersoft amplifier for Danley Sound Labs Studio 1 reference monitors and all building audio, a NewTek TriCaster Elite 2 live production system, Blackmagic Videohub, 16-foot monitor wall with 12 NEC displays as well as the teams Green-GO COMS, and eight Shure QLX-D talent wireless mics. - JCA selected a LynTec 66-circuit RPC Remote Control Breaker Panel supports all the facilitys needs.
The RPC is a single panel with the flexibility to accommodate a multitude of control platforms, including DMX, sACN, HTTP, Telnet, RS-232, or BacNET. Built on the industry accepted G3 Powerlink hardware platform by Square D, the patented RPC family combines circuit protection and power management, on/off control, and power sequencing in one affordable and scalable panel.
In the new broadcast space, JCA programmed the RPC for three zones: one for each studio and the control room. Interoperable with the DMX, JCA was able to wire it easily and quickly to command every circuit in the lighting grids with the flip of a simple switch. Beneath the switch, JCA added a Doug Fleenor DMX preset panel, allowing the broadcast team to hit a particular preset to power on the necessary lighting setting for that days show. In the control room, the RPC properly sequences the audio and video equipment on and off, while the astronomical clock shuts down any circuits left on at the end of the day. In addition, the comprehensive solution provides brownout, under-voltage, and over-voltage protection; sends notifications; and enables remote monitoring that keeps the department production ready.
The ability for broadcast teams to go live at any time depends on seamless control and power protection of their AVL systems, said Mark Bishop, president of LynTec. The installation at Campbellsville University, under the guidance of JCA Media, illustrates how our RPC panel provides invaluable control and protection that improves the performance and lifespan of their AVL systems and fits right into any production workflow.
