It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What a profound truth! A realization that eases the grip of life on man surrendering to God in all things. Partake in this feast as we consume food for the soul, nourishing the spirit in Breaking Bread. It is Monday, 31st October 2022.

Following the road that Jesus walks Unfortunately we first have to face a crisis in our lives before we choose to seek the will of God unconditionally. God is working very softly with us but without any response from us. We also have the tendency to first argue when God takes us to a place where he asks us to give our best for Him.

Being naturally attracted to Jesus will never be enough to make us disciples of Him. No, natural attraction will always betray Jesus because it is not enough and fall short of the true characteristics to follow Jesus.

We do not have in ourselves the necessary power to follow Jesus. We must receive the Holy Spirit and surrender totally to God. The Holy Spirit will give us the power to follow Jesus in obedience. There is only one direction which will determine your life, and it is Jesus, our Lord.

God requires one thing from all of us, namely to be one with and in Christ. All that we need is to live a life of total dependence on Christ. We must also first know who Jesus is and know His abilities and power so that we can follow Him.

The secret to follow Jesus is to experience no worries about what lies in the future. Peter experienced Jesus as someone in whom himself and the world will receive full salvation. In John 6:67 Jesus reminded Peter that he is chosen to follow Him. All of us must also ask ourselves- When will we follow Jesus?

The safest place in this broken world today is with Jesus. Keep on following Him even if you lose everything. Be assured that you will gain eternal life in Him. God is faithful and will protect us.

PRAYER God please protect us against the evils of this world. Help us to stand up for Your Word and to spread it amongst everyone. Thank You God that You guide us to follow Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Amen.

JY MOET JOUSELF VERLOEN

Dit is amper soos iets wat ons dra wat ons moet neersit; iets anders optel en daarmee aanstap. Ons dra baie swaar aan onsself. Ons word dikwels meegevoer deur ons eie bekwaamhede, gawes, talente, status en suksesse en invloed en geld. Ons raak ook somtyds behep met ons voorkoms en ons gesondheid. Om onsself te verloen is om te se ons ken nie meer hierdie ek nie, hierdie ek maak nie meer vir my saak nie, wat hierdie ek wil maak ook nie meer saak nie. Ons moet onsself neersit sodat ons die kruis kan optel, want indien ons Jesus wil volg, moet ons ons kruis opneem.

JOU KRUIS OPNEEM

Die kruis wat ons moet opneem is nie die kruis van ons sondeskuld nie. Jesus het reeds eeue gelede hierdie kruis vir ons gedra. Die kruis wat ons moet opneem is die bereidheid om uit dankbaarheid vir wat die Here vir ons gedoen het, Hom te volg en sy vereistes te gehoorsaam. Dit vereis ook van ons om in sommige situasies ongewilde standpunte in te neem. Indien ons Jesus wil volg, moet ons bereid wees dat hierdie soort kruis-dra n aksie in ons daaglikse lewe gaan word.

HOM VOLG

Indien ons vry van onsself is, kan ons met die Here se kruis op ons skouer nou n daadwerklike volgeling van die Here Jesus word. Dit beteken da tons Hom aanhou sal volg maak nie saak wat die omstandighede en uitdagings is nie.Die word volg wat hier gebruik word dui op aksie; nie net van n sekere gesindheid of van mooi voornemens nie, maar van daadwerklike aksie.
