The SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA is back and bigger than ever!
The Sports Video Group (SVG) is happy to announce that the 2022 SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA open this week. The entry window officially opens on Wednesday, March 1, 2022, with the deadline to enter this year's competition set for Friday, April 15, 2022.
SVG will, once again, not charge any fees to enter this year's competition. Official rules will be shared on March 1, 2022.
SVG is also excited to share that - for the first time since 2019 - the annual SVG College Sports Media Awards ceremony will be hosted IN PERSON on Monday June 13, 2022 as part of this year's SVG College Summit at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta.
There are also big changes coming to this year's competition!
The 2022 CSMAs will feature a significant expansion and redefining of both categories and divisions.
Here are the big new things you need to know heading into this year's competition:
New Divisions for Outstanding Live Game and Outstanding Live Non-Game Awards With the exceptional influx in live game and studio production occurring across the collegiate industry, we have deemed it necessary to award more trophies in Collegiate Athletics and Collegiate Student divisions in the Outstanding Live Game and Outstanding Live Non-Game categories.
In order to offer a more equitable playing field in the Collegiate Athletics and Collegiate Student divisions, we will be granting CSMAs in Outstanding Live Game and Outstanding Live Non-Game in two subdivisions: Network-Supported and Athletics-Supported.
Network Supported
This division is defined as any institution that is a member of a conference with a linear broadcast network. This includes any athletic department in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big Ten Conference (B1G), and Pac-12 Conference, as well as the University of Texas. The University of Notre Dame will be considered an ACC school.
Athletics-Supported
This division is defined as all other collegiate institutions. That includes any NCAA, NAIA, USCAA, NCCAA, ACCA, NJCAA, CCCAA, or NWAC-sanctioned athletic programs.
These defining lines apply ONLY to the Collegiate Athletics and Collegiate Student divisions in the Outstanding Live Game and Outstanding Live Non-Game categories.
NOTE: Any school that qualifies as an Athletics-Supported entry by these parameters that wishes to compete in the Network-Supported division is welcome to do so. However, any school that qualifies as a Network-Supported entry must enter the Network-Supported division.
New Awards: Outstanding Social Media Video and Outstanding In-Venue Video The category previously known as Outstanding Short-Form Fan Engagement has been split up into two categories in order to allow each of the following flavors of content to be celebrated individually. The new categories are:
Outstanding Social Media Video
This category celebrates video content created primarily (but not exclusively) for distribution to social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or SnapChat, as well as any other digital-only apps or platforms. Your entry in this division must display for our judges how the piece of content was seen natively on the social/digital media platform of choice.
Outstanding In-Venue Video
This category celebrates videos created primarily (but not exclusively) for videoboards in a stadium, arena, or other athletics facility. These videos may include hype videos, PSAs, or other in-stadium messaging.
Further details for the qualifications of these awards are outlined in this year's Official Rules to be shared on Wednesday, March 1.
In conclusion, the following is an overall view of the awards that will be given in the SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA:
