At the heart of InterBee's 8K technology, Image Matters will be demonstrating the origami ecosystem capabilities, as well as the 8K SVIP, a European project consisting of a future-proof adaptable modular platform.

The European project, 8K SVIP, is the easy bridge to the future 8K broadcast studio. It will help broadcasters leapfrog directly from HD and 4K to 8K. We see this collaboration between Belgium and Czech Republic manufacturers and researchers as an essential step to propelling 8K broadcasting to the home. European collaborative group 8K SVIP is a body of four academic and industrial partners: intoPIX, Cesnet, Image Matters and AV Media. 2018 being considered the year of 8K, 8K SVIP gives broadcasters the tools to migrate from HD and 4K, and develops advanced transport technologies to manage 8K signals over SDI and IP.

The project will focus on providing solutions to real use cases experienced by live broadcasters when distributing 8K video signals. Much of the technology to achieve this is still being developed and the 8K SVIP brings an innovative design to meet the high speed and real-time requirements of 8K video transport and interface (SDI & IP).

Backed by the European Commission's Eurostars program, R&D-performing SMEs are rewarded for technology advances and international development. 8K SVIP is guaranteed a secure future and will deliver many ingenious solutions going forward to the benefit of the broadcasting community.

Championing 8K, Japan's NHK is already broadcasting 8K TV satellite broadcast channels. Not only are viewers benefiting from increased resolution, they are also seeing much greater vibrant colors and contrast with enhanced WGR and HDR. Tokyo's 2020 Olympic Games is sure to see greater 8K content generated and broadcast.

Image Matters origami ecosystem is ideally suited to deliver hardware solutions to meet the needs of SDI and IP interfacing at the data speeds 8K video demands. The IM-B20 module, with its Xilinx UltraScale Kintex FPGA and exclusive Z-Ray connector, provides super-fast IO to facilitate 12G SDI and SFP fiber IP.

Modularity is key to future-proofing systems and this is even more evident as we transition to 8K. origami allows different connector interfaces to be designed easily and quickly empowering SI's and OEM's to rapidly deliver product to market.

A variety of high quality, high performance codecs are available in the origami Ecosystem including TICO, the compression technology adopted by the world's biggest enthusiast of 8K - Japan's NHK.

Image Matters new Pay-as-You-Go website allows compression IP licenses to be sold in volumes to meet the needs of the end user, whether this is a one off, or thousands off.

After the success of this year's IBC in Amsterdam, origami ecosystem will be joining forces once again and exhibiting exciting new demonstrations. Also present will be booth co-exhibitors Tokyo Electron Device (TED), a member of the origami ecosystem, and manufacturer of the IM B20 and IM B21.
